Visa Requirements Below are the visa requirements for selected countries. Australian passport holders: No visa required for up to 90 days New Zealand passport holders: No visa required for up to 30 days
Passports Tourists should have passports valid for 6 months after their entry to Singapore, onward or return tickets to their next destination and sufficient funds for their stay in Singapore. If longer stay is needed please contact the Singapore High Commission before arrival or the Singapore Immigration and Registration after arrival.
Vaccinations Vaccinations are not essential for Australian and New Zealand travellers when travelling to Singapore however do check with your doctor if you have specific medical requirements or are travelling into other neighbouring countries. Hotel Rates and Reservations Most major credit cards are accepted. Please note that when booking hotel accommodation where rates are quoted in Singapore dollars, you may be subjected to a 10% service charge plus 5% Goods and Services Tax, and 1% cess.
Time Differences Singapore is 8 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time. For Australian travellers Singapore is 2 hours behind the east coast (3 hours behind with Daylight Savings Time) and has the same time as west coast residents. For New Zealand travellers Singapore is 4 hours behind (5 hours behind with Daylight Savings Time).
Flight time Flight times to Singapore are approximately:
Australia: Sydney/ Melbourne/ Brisbane/ Adelaide – 7-8 hours Darwin – 4 hours Perth – 5 hours
New Zealand: Auckland/ Christchurch – 10-11 hours
Electricity Singapore voltage is 220 - 240 volts AC, 50 cycles per second. On request, most hotels will provide adaptors to visitors with electrical appliances of a different voltage. When shopping for electrical appliances, do remember to check the voltage of the item against the acceptable voltage in Australia or New Zealand. Please be aware that Singaporean electrical sockets differ from those in Australia/New Zealand and an international adapter will be required for most appliances.
Languages Singapore has 4 official languages - English, Mandarin, Malay and Tamil, with Malay being Singapore's national language. However, English is the most widely spoken language and is the common means of communication. | |
