Yangon – Mandalay – Bagan – Inle Lake – RV Paukan 2007 Cruise – Ngapali Beach

A program featuring Myanmar sightseeing combined with the best hotels and a classic river cruise. This idyllic tour ends with a beach holiday at beautiful and serene Ngapali beach ~


Day 01             Yangon arrival

(Arrival day must be Wednesday)

Yangon arrival and check in to After lunch begin with Yangon sightseeing including Chaukhtatkyi, a colossal reclining Buddha, a tour of the downtown area with its many colonial era building still in use, and a visit to the awe- inspiring Shedagon Pagoda.

Day 02              Yangon sightseeing

Today we continue our sightseeing with a visit to the beautiful Kandawgyi Lake which is a great photo stop. And then we will go to famous Scott Market; which is noted for its variety of handicrafts and other items which provide an excellent opportunity for a shopping spree before a visit in China town. We will also visit Botataung Pagoda, which is hollow and through which you can walk and see many ancient relics and artifacts.

Day 03              Yangon to Mandalay by morning flight

Fly to Mandalay. Enjoy sightseeing of the former royal capital of Amarapura which we pass on our way to the hotel.

Afternoon city sightseeing including silversmithing and gold leaf making workshops. Later a panoramic view from Mandalay Hill.

Day 04              Mandalay, Inwa, Sagaing
After Breakfast we visit another former royal capital, Inwa. Travel by pony cart down tree-lined paths and see the ruins of old palaces, “the leaning tower of Ava”, and the Ok Kaung Monastery, one of Myanmar’s view remaining wooden monasteries. Then cross the river by the Ava Bridge to visit Sagaing Hill. Formerly a royal capital of the Shan kingdom it is now primarily a religious center. From Sagaing Hill you have wonderful view of the Ayeyarwady River and looking back at Mandalay. O/N Mandalay Day 05              River Cruise to Bagan

Day 05              River Cruise to Bagan

Breakfast at the hotel. Drive back to Mandalay and transfer to the jetty to board RV Paukan River Cruise to Bagan. The embarkation is at 12.30 hrs. Welcome cocktail in the Saloon.

Lunch will be served at 13.00. The Sailing time is about 2 hrs. An English speaking cruise manager will assist the guests during the visit of the Mingun Pagoda Complex. Moor Overnight at a sandbank mid-stream.

Day 06              Irrawaddy River Cruise                                                            

Early in the morning cruise downstream. During the 2 hours journey the passengers can admire the natural beauty of the river and the life of its banks while relaxing on the sundeck or just sitting outside their own cabin. Enjoy the sunrise over Sagaing Hill.

The cast off time is at 11.15 hrs. Lunch will be served at 13.00. In the late afternoon we stop at Yandabo, a village specialize in Pot-Making, where the peace treaty of the First Anglo-Burmese war was signed on Feb. 24, 1826. Cruise all day and moor overnight near the village of Shwe Nann Tint.

Day 07             Arrival Bagan and Sightseeing                                                                        

Early in the morning we proceed downriver to Bagan. After breakfast (if time permits) we visit another typical river village. Enjoy the sunrise near Bagan. And then disembark at Aye Yar jetty around 10.15 hrs and transfer to your hotel. After check in at the hotel, begin our sightseeing of one of Asia’s premier archaeological sites. Highlights of our visit will include many of Bagan’s distinctive pagodas. At sunset enjoy a marvelous panoramic view of the pagodas.

Day 08              Bagan

(Optional Balloon Flight over Bagan: Early morning wake up call to transfer to the take off site of the hot air balloon.  Take off before sunrise and see the sun come up as you drift slowly over the pagodas (for about 50 minutes) before landing and enjoying celebratory champagne.)

After breakfast continue our sightseeing in Bagan. Highlights of our visit include many of Bagan’s distinctive pagodas and the colorful local market as well and a visit to a local village.

Day 09              Bagan – Heho by morning flight

Today fly to the Shan state for a visit to scenic Inle Lake. Located at 900 meters elevation, and 20km long by 6 km wide. There is plenty to see and it is also very relaxing. Transfer from Heho airport to Inle Lake. After check-in enjoy sightseeing on the lake of the floating gardens, the Inle boatmen with their unique one-legged rowing style and the semi-famous ‘jumping cats monastery’.

Day 10              Inle Lake – Indain sightseeing

Take a scenic boat ride up a creek to reach the 17th century pagodas of Indein. Truly an Indiana Jones type setting with the crumbling pagodas and underbrush.

Day 11              Heho – to Ngapali beach by flight

Take leave of the beauty of Inle Lake and fly to another kind of beauty, the white sands of Ngapali beach. . Arrive by afternoon flight and transfer to the hotel by hotel shuttle bus. Enjoy the beach the rest of the day.
